I purchased these Sail Makers Needles on Etsy! They’re supposedly from the 1800′s. I’ll post better pictures once I do some more research. I love the packaging!

This is such a great idea! I’m going to order the Moby-Dick poster (of the posters referenced in the post) and I’m going to try my hand at the code to see what else I can create!

Very neat! I’ll have to add this to my list of shipwrecks to visit!

the curse of the black pearl vs at world’s end

I love this because you have Elizabeth who couldn’t even defend herself in the first one to becoming this master sword fighter and leader of ALL pirates. You watch Will who was just this angsty little brat head over heels for Elizabeth become this grown man who faced all his demons.

and then there’s Jack

“Elizabeth who couldn’t even defend herself”

Do you mean…

Elizabeth who improvised a weapon when pirates invaded her bedroom

image

Elizabeth who could have run for the exits but instead went straight for the swords

image

Elizabeth who demanded to speak with a pirate captain and then used the leverage she had to get him to agree to her demands

image

Elizabeth who CAME AT BARBOSSA WITH A GODDAMN KNIFE and then fucking STABBED HIM when she couldn’t get away

image

Elizabeth who was trapped on a tiny island with nothing but crates of rum and a man she couldn’t stand and who used those supplies to summon a rescue party for herself

image

Elizabeth who made a rope out of sheets and climbed down the back of a ship to save the day herself when no one would listen to her about how dangerous the pirates were

image

Elizabeth who snuck onto the Black Pearl, knocked two cursed pirates straight off their ship, and rescued Jack’s entire crew

image

Elizabeth who rowed straight back into danger without any backup instead of running away with everyone else

image

Elizabeth who came to Will’s rescue with a blunt object and a one-liner

image

Elizabeth who proceeded to team up with Will to take down all the remaining pirates in the cave

image

Elizabeth who – without being asked or told what was going on – faked unconsciousness to create a distraction for Will’s rescue of Jack

image

Elizabeth who stepped in front of a ring of muskets, successfully protecting Jack and Will from being shot or captured

image
image

Elizabeth may have learned some impressive sword tricks in the later movies, but she was a Badass from day one.

Elizabeth Swann is a queen.

I can’t not reblog this.

I didn’t have much training in photo retouching while in school. We do some light retouching of product shots at work, but that’s about it. Just recently the marketing dept. took headshots of new employees, and my boss asked me to take a stab and retouching them to match the headshots currently on our site (that were taken and edited by a third party). I really like the challenge! I have a lot to learn, but this video was a huge help!

During today’s coding adventures, I learned that Firefox has a more useful inspector than Chrome. At least in my opinion.

A friend of my parents saw my latest project and brought this piece of driftwood to show me. Hard to believe she found it! It looks ridiculously close to a Sperm Whale head.

Photo @mike_hettwer - SHIPBREAKING - There are over 100 shipbreaking yards just north of Chittagong, Bangladesh, and they typically dismantle 200 or more large ships each year. They focus on 25-30 year old oil tankers and container ships - and it takes from 3-6 months to completely “break” a ship. Just before a winter dawn, a young worker stays warm near a fire likely made from burning asbestos. He and two other sleeping workers wait for more ship sections to be winched into shore so they can be cut apart and eventually extruded into rebar. Workers have very little safety equipment and work 70+ hour weeks. There are hundreds of injuries each year and the environmental damage is extensive. The shipbreaking video we produced has been seen by over 600,000 people and can be viewed on several sites including the Nat Geo YouTube channel : Where Ships Go to Die, Workers Risk Everything. You can paste this link into your browser to view it - http://ift.tt/PjdWDz.
